The Raven
When working on a branding refresh, including the logo we debuted in March of 2022, we decided we wanted more than just our name… and while the ‘8’ and ‘9’ balls used in our old logo helped ground the brand in this industry that we love, we felt we wanted a little more ‘attitude’. The famed designer we worked with brought a few options to us, but the one that stirred the most emotion was the raven.
The Seybert’s Raven was chosen for a few reasons… it represents both predator and prey – much like a pool player. The raven can soar high above – to scout the situation… Like a pool player looking for the perfect pattern to run out, or even at a pool hall, on the lookout for their next opponent, the raven looks for its next meal. A Raven must never miss an opportunity and the pool player is no different, the player needs to be ruthless … But as the alert nature of the Raven also shows, the Raven always lives with one eye looking over its shoulder, much as the pool player also needs to beware of proverbial ‘sharks’ – never underestimating a situation, as such, the Raven we feel is the perfect symbol for the avid pool player… and it looks pretty badass too, even if we do say so ourselves.
